The Campus Spirit program is dedicated to enhancing Reinhardt spirit on campus and in the community.
“SOAR, the Eagle” is a popular part of RU tradition and serves as an ambassador and promoter of school pride and spirit at various athletic contests, campus-wide events and community functions.
History of the Eagle Mascot
Since 1982, when Reinhardt first began its intercollegiate athletic program, the Eagle has served as the University’s mascot. However, for over 30 years the Eagle was without an official name. The arrival of football in 2012 presented the ideal opportunity for students, alumni and other fans to be involved in determining the mascot’s name. The University received nearly 80 submissions and the names that received the most votes were considered for selection. During Spring Day 2013, the official name was unveiled to be “SOAR, the Eagle.”
The Mascot Team
The Mascot Team consists of RU students who appear as “SOAR” and/or escort “SOAR” at various events. The Mascot Team provides a vocal spirit in addition to the mascot’s animated spirit.
If you are interested in having “SOAR, the Eagle” appear at an even or becoming a member of the Mascot Team, please contact the Office of Student Activities at firstname.lastname@example.org or 770-720-5540.
