The HiltonianEstablished in 1924, The Hiltonian, is official student newspaper of Reinhardt College, and is edited, managed, and written by Reinhardt College students. The Hiltonian provides coverage of Reinhardt events, as well. A college newspaper is more than a source of news. It is a forum for public debate; it is the voice of the students amplified to an audible pitch; it is anything and everything students try to make it. All ad and article deadlines are the 15th of the month for the issue that created and delivered on the 1st of the following month. HistoryThe first issue of The Hiltonian was published in May 1924. The Hiltonian published issues consistently from 1924 until 1975. The Hiltonian was again published from 1981 to 1986. The next incarnation of a student paper was in 1990 with the Reinhardt Eagle which was published through 2004. The Hiltonian re-appeared in 2005 and transition to an online publication in November 2008. Hiltonian PoliciesThe policy of The Hiltonian is to provide our students with professionally supported training in newspaper-related areas and to produce a high quality product people want to read. We offer students hands-on training using state-of-the-art technology as they prepare for careers in the media. The emphasis is on STUDENTS at Reinhardt College. Reinhardt College does not believe in censorship of any kind. We respect and encourage our students to exercise their guaranteed rights of free speech. Our students determine content, programming and handle all matters relating to personnel. This privilege is quickly tempered by the responsibility that goes along with work in a public forum. Students rely on advisers, but advisers do not preview student work. Instead, teaching and constructive criticism come after publications and broadcasts. ArticlesFinal decisions concerning printing and/or editing of any submission (by The Hiltonian Staff or members of the Reinhardt College Community) belongs to the Editorial Board of The Hiltonian. The Hiltonian reserves the right to edit all submissions for style, possible libel, or in case of space limitations.
