Preservation Hall Jazz
After performing worldwide, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will now take the stage at Reinhardt University's Falany Performing Arts Center. Known as one of the best jazz bands, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has a rich history, including performances with some of the jazz greats like Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Bunk Johnson. Founding artists, as well as dozen others, have helped to pass on the lessons of their music to a younger generation who now follow in their footsteps like the current lineup.
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from the Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The building that houses Preservation Hall has contained many businesses over the years, including a tavern during the War of 1812, a photo studio and an art gallery. To this day, Preservation Hall has no drinks, air conditioning, or other typical accommodations. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Having performed at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, for British Royalty and the King of Thailand, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has spread their love for music to vast audiences.
