Peter Kolkay, Award Winning Bassoonist

Dubbed a "star ascendant" by San Francisco's Classical Voice, Peter Kolkay's musicianship is sure to excite and entertain audiences of all ages.  Boasting such awards as the 2002 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2006 and the 2006 Carlos Surinach Prince from BMI, Kolkay is a superb artist. Not to be missed, this concert will allow audiences to enjoy an instrument that is such delight and not often in solo performance.  Peter Kolkay has helped to bring the bassoon to the spotlight, performing the world premiere of the Full Faith and Credit (a concerto for two bassoons and strings) by composer Harold Meltzer (2004-05 Rome Prize) with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra.  With the Falany Performing Arts Center as the perfect venue, this concert will show off the beautiful sound of the bassoon.
