Julia Bullock

“Julia Bullock, a striking soprano,” acclaimed for her “ravishingly visceral accounts,” (The New York Times) won First Prize in the 2012 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and will be presented in debut recitals in New York City and in Washington D.C.. A prize winner of Bard Conservatory’s Concerto Competition (’10), Julia participated in the Artists in Training (AIT) program with Opera Theater of St. Louis (2003-’05) graduating with the prestigious Marielle Hubner Award. Julia was the first recipient of the Mimi Levitt Scholarship at Bard College where she earned her M.M. (’11), and she holds a bachelor’s from the Eastman School of Music (’09). Having completed her studies at Bard College’s Graduate Vocal Arts Program, Julia Bullock currently studies with Edith Bers at Julliard, and is a member of Actor’s Equity.

She recently toured, performing the role of Pamina in Peter Brook’s Award-winning The Magic Flute; and performing in China with the Bard Music Festival Orchestra. Julia Bullock’s busy schedule this season includes the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen with Julliard Opera and appearances with the New York Festival of Song at Caramoor and in New York. Her other opera roles include Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Monica (The Medium), and the title role in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. She also sang the role of Gonzales in the 2010 premiere of Melissa Dunphy’s The Gonzales Cantata at The Fisher Center at Bard College; the work is based on the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
