Stephen Long named to Reinhardt University's 10 Under 10

Stephen Long was named one of Reinhardt University’s 10 Under 10 for 2017 at the Homecoming Brunch held last month.

“The 10 Under 10 is an awards program we began to honor our alumni doing wonderful things in their 10 years since graduation,” said Tim Norton, vice president for advancement and marketing. “This year’s class is comprised of go-getters, philanthropists, and business and community leaders.”

Long has found his place in the classroom at Etowah High School in Woodstock, passing his love of music on to younger generations.

He serves as the Director of Bands at Etowah High School. Since joining Etowah High in 2015, the band program has grown in size and continues to make strides each year. He currently is working with other band directors in the district to create a larger Jazz presence by offering an Honor Jazz Band event.

Long, of Woodstock, earned his Bachelor of Music Education in 2009 from Reinhardt and continued to earn his Master of Music with a focus in Conducting in 2014. He had the opportunity to teach in Fulton County, Georgia, and in Long Beach, Mississippi. He is active in District 9 of the Georgia Music Educators’ Association.

The 10 Under 10 is a group of Reinhardt University Alumni who are active in many communities throughout the world. Each year, Reinhardt recognizes distinguished alumni who exemplify the mission of our institution. The 10 under 10 award is given to a group of alumni who graduated within the last 10 years and are successful in business, the military, nonprofits, government, ministry and/or the arts. Their pictures hang in the Student Center as a reminder of how Reinhardt alumni make a difference.
