Kim Michael brings 25-plus years of nursing experience to the classroom

By Erika Neldner

WALESKA, GA (Nov. 10, 2017) - Kim Michael has spent more than 25 years in nursing with the majority of her career focusing on pediatrics. So it’s no surprise that her favorite class in Reinhardt University’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences is Nursing Care of Children and Families.

“It is easy for me to pull from my experience in order to make concepts and topics relevant to students,” Michael said. “Also, I believe that an abundance of health promotion and disease prevention activities begin in childhood, so I enjoy teaching the means by which we can support and encourage families in the endeavor of raising healthy and safe children.”

Michael joined Reinhardt last December as one of the University’s first nursing faculty members.

While her time at Reinhardt has been short so far, the assistant professor of nursing already has developed a fondness for the atmosphere of family and dedication to students.

“It is a warm and personable environment,” she said. “University life, activities and curricula are centered on serving the best interest and well-being of the student – holistically. This is a place where each student who embraces the Reinhardt Experience can and will thrive.”

She is honored to be a part of a field that for 15 consecutive years has been named the most trusted profession in the United States. “This is certainly an esteemed honor for the profession of nursing and exemplifies a high level of ethics and honesty being exhibited by nurses in all types of settings throughout the nation,” Michael said.

Michael earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from The Ohio State University and her Master of Science in nursing from Keiser University.

She spent 21 years in various nursing positions at Dayton Children’s Medical Center before relocating to Georgia. Since then, she has worked as a school nurse in the Cherokee County School District and at Pediatria Healthcare for Kids.
