Reinhardt community brings joy to local families for Christmas

By Erika Neldner

A Christmas tradition of giving back to the local community continues, as Reinhardt University faculty, staff and students supported several families of R.M. Moore Elementary School.

Through the annual Angel Giving Tree gift program, managed by the Office of Advancement and Marketing, the Reinhardt family has the opportunity to select gifts for local children from a Christmas tree placed in support services.

“Reinhardt University’s support means the difference between an old-fashioned Christmas, like most of us were all fortunate to receive as children, and no Christmas for some of our students,” said Jan Adamson, principal of R.M. Moore Elementary School. “Because of the Angel Giving Tree several of our families will be able to enjoy an exciting Christmas morning this year.  We are always appreciative of Reinhardt’s assistance with this heartfelt project at R.M. Moore. It reminds me of the reason we celebrate during the holiday season.”

Tim Norton, vice president for advancement and marketing, said faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in the Giving Tree effort and it’s an honor for the University to participate.

“For many years, Reinhardt University has supported R.M. Moore Elementary School’s Angel Giving Tree, and we are thankful for the Reinhardt family who participated this year, especially our students. We strive to create an atmosphere that develops the whole student, and a giving heart and community involvement is a key piece to that. We are proud to be a part of such a wonderful program and love that we can help make Christmas a little brighter for our neighbors.”

The Reinhardt University/R.M. Moore Elementary School partnership spans the entire year. Students frequently are found helping during special activities at the school or assisting in other aspects.

“The partnership that has been established between R. M. Moore and Reinhardt University is directly tied to service,” Adamson said. “The students give of their time to help our students whether it is assisting at PE or volunteering for Fall Festival. We are truly grateful to the backing from our partner in education on many levels.”
