Reinhardt University’s Symphonic Winds to Perform at the American Bandmasters Association Convention on Thursday, March 7, 2014

On Thursday, March 7, 2014, Reinhardt University’s Symphonic Winds will perform at the 80th Annual American Bandmasters Association Convention in Montgomery, Alabama. The Reinhardt University Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. David Gregory, has been honored with the invitation as one of four university bands selected from American universities to perform at the ABA Convention. The other selected bands are Troy University (the host institution), The University of Alabama, and The University of South Carolina. The United States Air Force Band will also be performing at the convention. The American Bandmasters Association is an elite organization that was founded 1929 with the legendary John Philip Sousa as Honorary Life President. The ABA strives to recognize outstanding achievement on the part of concert band conductors and composers. Currently, there are 300 members (by invitation only) of band conductors and composers. There are 80 Associate Members comprised of music businesses and corporations that provide significant services to bands and to the publication of band music. ABA members and guests, for whom the concerts are presented, are considered to be the most knowledgeable in the world of band music. This opportunity for the Symphonic Winds to play at the ABA Convention is a monumental and historic event for Reinhardt University. The phenomenal growth, both in numbers and in musical ability, of the Reinhardt University Symphonic Winds has captured the attention of the best conductors and composers in the band world. Congratulations to the Reinhardt University Symphonic Winds for your success!
