Funk Heritage Center Special Programs

Many special programs for adults and children are offered by the Funk Heritage Center. Some of these activities include:

  • Specialized tours for school children 
  • Group tours for adults
  • Lectures various interesting topics
  • Georgia History Timeline (each October): professional re-enactors portray many famous historical characters. More than 3000 children attend this unusual school field trip each year. 
  • Tuesday Alive (selected Tuesdays in the spring and fall):  volunteers dressed in pioneer clothing demonstrate in the Appalachian Settlement how early settlers lived and worked.
  • After-school enrichment program (selected dates in spring and fall): to teach children about wildlife and the environment.
  • summer day camp for elementary age children.
  • monthly book club (no cost for attendees).
  • Native American Day (each November)
  • Family History Workshop (each February).
