The Kiowa Five Exhibit

Dr. Joseph Kitchens introduced a new exhibit opened in the Buffington Gallery on September 24. The Kiowa Five is an exhibit of thirty paintings by five young Kiowa Indian artists who were from the Anadarko region of Oklahoma.  They began their art training under the auspices of the University of Oklahoma in the 1920's and were among the first to obtain training in a university setting, using modern artists' material and receiving academic instruction.  The complete collection was a gift to Reinhardt College from Margaret Rogers in 1999.
