Living History Volunteers

Crafters who enjoy quilting, woodworking, basket weaving and others who are familiar with pioneer history enjoy volunteering for our special events. These events are usually held in the Appalachian Settlement. We have volunteer blacksmiths and a person who does chair caning. Can you use a spinning wheel? You might want to read a story to the children or use a chalkboard to show them how children learned without having paper and pencils.

You don't need to be an actor or have experience to be a "re-enactor." If you are interested, make an appointment to meet with our staff, and we will take you on a tour of our log cabins in the Settlement.  You can then decide what role you would like to play.
