Laurence Stacey

Laurence Stacey lives in Marietta, Georgia and teaches at Reinhardt University and Chattahoochee Technical College. He holds an MA in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State University, with an emphasis on poetry.   His primary interest is classical and contemporary Japanese poetry. Laurence’s poetry and essays have been featured in Prune Juice, Simply Haiku, Tinywords, The Heron’s NestAmerican TankaModern Haiku, and other journals. His book reviews have been published in Flycatcher. Laurence is the co-editor of Haiku News, an online journal dedicated to engaging sociopolitical events through haiku, tanka, and senryu poetry. He has co-edited two print poetry anthologies for Haiku News, with the second scheduled to come out in February of 2016. He is currently finishing a chapbook of tanka inspired by environmental studies and his experiences as a college professor.

 Laurence is a board member of the Georgia Writers Association and is interested in incorporating poetry into high school and university curriculums. When he is not teaching college literature courses, Laurence travels and lectures at workshops. He lectures annually for the Haiku Society of America and at the Sakura Festival, an annual literary event hosted by the Birmingham Public Library. Laurence has also taught creative writing workshops for the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project and for regional high school students.  Laurence has been a featured guest on Georgia State University's radio show, Album 88. 

Core Faculty are available to mentor students one-on-one and will be teaching Residency workshops and online classes.
