Originally called The Reinhardt Scholarship Golf Classic, this event was renamed in 2000 in honor of the late Dave Henrtize, a Reinhardt trustee and Golf Classic chair for 10 years. At that time, the family, friends and colleagues also established an endowment fund to augment the tournament’s efforts to provide work/study funds for Reinhardt students.
"The tournament was a magnificent success and we are deeply grateful to the Golf Classic Committee for their dedication and hard work," Reinhardt Development Officer Barbara Manous said. "We feel truly blessed by the level of support and enthusiasm demonstrated by the Golf Classic Committee, players and sponsors."
The 2001 tournament had the support of its first Gold Sponsor ($10,000 level), the children of Katie and the late Dave Henritze. Silver Sponsors ($5,000 level) included APAC-GEORGIA, INC., Atlanta Falcons Football Club, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Extruded Fibers and UPS General Service Company.
