After deciding to suspend late day and evening classes at Reinhardt College on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, the decision was made to resume scheduled College operations on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001.
Dr. Charles E. Glassick, Interim President, issued the following statement:
"In this time of uncertainty for our nation, I know the entire Reinhardt community grieves for all those impacted by the tragic events of today. We know that by pulling together in prayer and fellowship, we can draw strength and guidance from God's word and from the Christian community that is the Reinhardt Family. For those reasons, the College is holding a prayer service from 4 - 5 p.m. today (9/11), and our students are hosting a prayer vigil from 6 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. tomorrow.
"Tomorrow - Wednesday, Sept. 12 - College activities will continue as scheduled (classes, meetings, athletic events, etc.).
Should your individual circumstances prevent you from attending your classes or observing your normal work day, I will expect appropriate latitude to be given. Please do communicate with your supervisor or instructor(s) so they are aware of your situation, and know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
"It is important that we rely on each other during this time of turmoil. Should you desire additional support or counseling in the days ahead, please seek assistance from our counseling staff, College chaplain, other student affairs staff, or other members of our faculty or staff. Thank you for your concern for one another during this most difficult time."
