3/4/03 - Isherwood Inauguration Celebrates College and Community
For
Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood, his impending Inauguration as the 19th
president of Reinhardt College would be a highlight of his career in
education, but he also wanted it to be a highlight for Reinhardt College
and its family of students, faculty, staff and friends. In seeing his
plans through, the Inauguration committee has planned a week of social,
academic and formal events to celebrate the College and its new
president.
Listed below is a run-down of the week's events:

A North Fulton Center Celebration Monday, March 25, 2003 ~ 7 - 8:30 p.m. The North Fulton Center of Reinhardt College 4100 Old Milton Parkway, Suite 250, Alpharetta, Ga. (This event gives Reinhardt's North Fulton students and alumni and friends in the area a chance to meet Dr. Isherwood)

A Chapel Service Tuesday, March 25, 2003 ~ 11:30 a.m. Blanche Hagan Chapel

Reinhardt Family Night Tuesday, March 25, 2003 Buffet Dinner 5 - 7 p.m. ~ Entertainment 7 to 8 p.m. W. Frank and Evelyn J. Gordy Center (This event is a celebration for students, faculty and staff, and it will feature entertainment by members of the faculty.)

A Poetry Reading by Maurice Manning, Winner of 2000 Yale Series of Younger Poets Wednesday, March 26, 2003 ~ 2 p.m. Floyd A. and Fay W. Falany Performing Arts Center, Room 116 (Maurice Manning is the nephew of Dr. and Mrs. Isherwood. The
Yale Series of Younger Poets is the longest-running poetry prize in
America, and is widely considered as one of the most prestigious. The
competition is open to any American under age 40 who has not yet
published a book of poetry. Maurice Manning won for his manuscript
Lawrence Booth's Book of Visions. The manuscript was published in book
form in July 2001. Taken from Yale University Press website: "Manning's
compelling poems take us on a wild ride through the life of a man child
in the rural south. Presenting a cast of allegorical and symbolic, yet
very real, characters, the poems have "authority, daring, [and] a
language of color and movement," says series judge W.S. Merwin."

Reinhardt Community Celebration Featuring the Bluegrass Music of Doyle Lawson & QuickSilver and Seven Dollar Parking
Wednesday, March, 26, 2003 %7e 7:30 p.m. Floyd A. and Fay W. Falany Performing Arts Center (Doyle
Lawson & Quicksilver began in 1979 pushing their sound of
�smooth, intricate, astonishingly perfect vocal harmonies, innovative
song arrangements and instrumental work�. The band has won numerous
awards for their work, and they regularly headline major gospel and
bluegrass festivals throughout the United States, including their own
festival in Denton, N.C. For more information, check their website at www.doylelawson.com. Seven Dollar Parking is a local group, which includes Jay
Wallace '85, Reinhardt alumni board of governors president, Barry
Satterfield, Perry McKinney, Brian Wallace '77 and Junior Cook. This event serves as a celebration of Reinhardt's history in the community of Waleska and Cherokee County.

Inauguration Installation Ceremony Thursday, March 27, 2003 %7e 11 a.m. Floyd A. and Fay W. Falany Performing Arts Center (This
is the formal ceremony installing Dr. Isherwood as the 19th president
of the College. Students, faculty, staff, board of trustee members,
delegates from other colleges/universities, as well as, family and
friends of Dr. and Mrs. Isherwood have been invited to the ceremony)

Inauguration Luncheon 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Gordy Center (Student luncheon will take place in the Student Center and will be catered by The Varsity) Longtime
community friends of the College, as well as, students, faculty and
staff were invited. If seats are available after our response date, we
will open the event to the public at a first come, first serve basis.
When that time comes, local Cherokee County media will be notified.
