On Dec. 18, 2003, Reinhardt College hosted a reception for Mr. and Mrs. William "Billy" G. Hasty Jr. of Canton, Ga., to thank them for providing the generous renovation funds for the President's Office, reception area and Wesley Conference Room in the Burgess Administration Building on the College's main campus in Waleska, Ga.
"We wanted to host the event now, during the holiday season, because the festive decorations so beautifully accent the renovated areas," Vice President for External Affairs JoEllen Wilson said. She also commended the Hasty family for their longstanding dedication to the institution.
"Billy and Linda are part of four generations of Hastys who have attended Reinhardt," she said. ï"And I hope these little ones, Erin and Cole, will be headed here in a few years," referring to the Hastys' grandchildren.
Mr. Hasty said they had wanted to do something to help the College and were glad to be of assistance with this specific need.
The standing-room-only gathering of family, friends, local trustees and College staff and administrators toured the beautifully decorated areas and enjoyed refreshments.
Reinhardt President Emeritus Dr. Floyd A. Falany explained how the President's Office came to be located in that area. "Normally when you come to work at a place, they show you your office," he said. "When I came to work as dean, they didn't have an office for me, so I ended up making an office out of this corner of the former library. The president before me, Dr. Jernigan, did the same. It is so nice now to see this area has evolved and how so very nice it is now."
