Reinhardt Adds Baseball and Softball
In
the fall of 2004, Reinhardt College in Waleska, Ga., will welcome a
whole new class of students, including the student-athletes who will be
competing with the inaugural men's baseball and women's fast-pitch
softball teams. The private, liberal arts college currently fields men's
and women's teams in soccer, cross country, basketball and tennis along
with men's golf and women's volleyball.
The
new teams will compete as Division I teams in the National Association
of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as part of the
Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference (GACC).
"We
are excited about the opportunity to recruit student athletes both
regionally and nationally that excel both in the classroom and on the
field," said Jason Gamel, assistant director of admissions and chair of
the search committee for the baseball head coach.
The
head coach of the baseball team, as well as the woman's softball coach
will be named by January 2004 with plans to immediately begin recruiting
and contacting athletes who have shown an interest.
"It
is important to have a leader with local recruitment experience, a
knowledge of small colleges and proven energy and talent with building
quality programs at institutions with similar missions as Reinhardt,"
Gamel said. Return to Previous Page
