4/28/05 - Local Couple Honored for Gift to Reinhardt
Cherokee County residents Dr. L. Austin and Mrs. Bea Champion
Flint, were honored with a reception at Reinhardt College on Tuesday,
April 19, 2005, for their support of the Waleska, Ga.-based institution.
Because of their recent gift given in honor of their wedding
anniversary, the College was able to purchase the BioOne biology
research database, which has proven an invaluable resource for Reinhardt
students, specifically those in the biology program.
 This
is the first named database collection for Reinhardt, and students were
on hand during the reception in the Hill Freeman Library and Spruill
Learning Center to demonstrate its capabilities. Dr. Flint is a retired
radiologist who practiced in Cherokee, Bartow and Pickens counties, and
Mrs. Flint is a former English professor and taught at Reinhardt.
The database provides students with a constantly updated pool of
research, articles and abstracts. According to Reinhardt's Dr. Steve
Powers, assistant professor of biology, this database provides
"information that is not contained in a textbook or from myself -- it is
the most up-to-date research available."
