12/13/04 - Reinhardt Student Lucas McHenry Receives Scholarship from Atlanta Steinway Society
Lucas
McHenry, a Reinhardt senior and music major, has been awarded a $2,000
scholarship from the Atlanta Steinway Society. Each year, the Society
awards four $2,000 scholarships to students who are studying piano at
Georgia colleges and universities. The Society chooses the schools from
Georgia institutions of higher learning with keyboard programs, varying
the choice each year.

of a $2,000 scholarship from the Atlanta Steinway Society.
McHenry has been studying piano for 15 years, and he plans to
continue his education after Reinhardt pursuing a masters degree in
pedagogy and performance. In addition to piano, he also plays the
saxophone and guitar. McHenry is a resident of Cherokee County and a
graduate of Sequoyah High School. His parents are the late Michael
McHenry and Rebecca McHenry.
"I was very honored to receive a
scholarship from an organization such as the Steinway Society," said
McHenry. "Music is an important part of my life and to receive
acknowledgement of your talent is a great honor."
McHenry counts his parents as the biggest influence on his
life, and musically, lists Chopin and Liszt as his favorite composers,
"their music touches me deeper than any other composers."
At
Reinhardt, McHenry is a student in the Eulene Holmes Murray Department
of Music and part of the growing music program. The College offers a
Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in performance/pedagogy.Return to Previous Page
