11/11/05 - "Iron Chef"-style Reinhardt Challenge on Tuesday, Nov. 15 |
|
The “Iron Chef’s Kitchen Stadium” comes to Waleska on Tuesday, Nov. 15 as Reinhardt faculty and staff go head to head in a culinary contest. The “Reinhardt Challenge” will be a stir-fry competition between four contestants during the lunch period in the W. Frank and Evelyn J. Gordy Center, Reinhardt’s dining facility. The contestants are Charlie Wittmann, food service director; Larry Speights, assistant food service director; Andy Edwards, dean of the School of Mathematics & Sciences and Michael Martinez, interim director of the Hill Freeman Library & Spruill Learning Center. Will the culinary experience of Wittmann and Speights reign supreme? Will Edwards or Martinez wow the judges with their raw talent? A panel of judges, including three students, one faculty member and one staff member, will be the deciding factor. Preparations will begin at 11:45 p.m. for the challenge, with 30-45 minutes for cooking. Judging will take place afterwards.
The Gordy Center is open to the public for dining, and the cost for lunch is
$4.75 per person. The competition is hosted by the Gordy Center and
Reinhardt’s food service vendor, Aramark. |
