Reinhardt Alumni & Students are "On Fire" for College’s 2007 Homecoming Activities!

Homecoming 2007 on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, will be action-packed as Reinhardt students and alumni come together for sporting events, an alumni award presentation, reunions, dinner, the homecoming dance and the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.  A big crowd is expected.

“Local alumni, don’t miss out on the fun!” said Walter P. May, Reinhardt’s assistant dean of students and director of student activities.  “The homecoming committee has really taken this event and run with it,” he said.  “We’ll have a great time cheering on the Eagles and Lady Eagles!”

One of the special events of the day is a reception honoring the 50th anniversary of student governance at Reinhardt.  Current and former members of the College’s student government association have received a special invitation to this one-time event.

Jordan Turner, the 2006-07 SGA president, has helped plan this reception.  "We are excited to have the former members of the Student Government Association back on campus, and we are looking forward to thanking them for all they have done."

Several very special Reinhardt grads will receive the Alumnus of the Year and the Evelyn J. Gordy Alumni Loyalty Award.  “These alumni have been active advocates, cheerleaders and advisors to Reinhardt for many years,” said Reinhardt President Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood.  “We are looking forward to saying ‘thank you’ to these fine individuals.”

Isherwood also hopes to meet many of the members of the Classes of ‘37, ‘47, ‘57, ‘67, ‘77, ’87 and ’97 when they return to campus for their class reunions.  Also alumni basketball players will return for the alumni game, one of the first activities of the day.

A new feature, Kids Corner, has been added for the children of alumni and students.  High-energy activities, including hula hooping, limbo, dancing, island bowling, fishing for prizes, story-telling and making hang gliders or butterflies, will be offered to children ages 2 – 10.

The Homecoming Dance, complete with the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, will conclude the day.  The student body has elected 14 students to the court, and during the week prior to homecoming, they will elect the king and queen from seniors on the court.
