Harriett A. Lindsey, associate professor of
education in the Price School of Education, received the 2007
Jane England Faculty Award for Excellence from Reinhardt College
on April 18, 2007. Lindsey has worked at the College since
January 1974 and lives in Waleska, Ga.
The $500 award is named for a long-time
Reinhardt faculty member who retired in May 2001 and passed away
this past January. England was a professor of history and
political science for 31 years at the College. She also served
in numerous leadership roles, including advisor to the student
newspaper and chairperson of the faculty. Upon her retirement,
Reinhardt established this annual faculty award, along with a
scholarship fund, in her honor.
Lindsey was nominated by her peers for the
award and selected as the recipient by a three-member
committee. In her 33 years of service at Reinhardt, she has
taught various education and psychology courses. Lindsey is
presently the field experience program director for the Price
School of Education, and she teaches several education classes.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Lindsey obtained her bachelor’s
degree from Florence State University (now the University of
North Alabama) before earning a master’s of education in early
childhood education at The University of Georgia in 1973.
“It is so meaningful to me because it is
the Jane England Award, and she stood for excellence in teaching
and in service,” Lindsey said. “She contributed so much to the
College by upholding high academic standards and by really doing
an outstanding job of service with our students.” |
