As part of its Capital Campaign, Reinhardt
College recently accepted a $50,000 gift from United Community
Bank. Reinhardt President Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood received the
check on March 21 from Steve Holcomb, president and chief
executive officer of United Community Bank – Cherokee. The gift
is the first from United Community Bank – Cherokee since it
completed its acquisition of Southern National Bank in December
2006.
The gift has been designated for the
Building Fund portion of Reinhardt’s Capital Campaign. To date,
College officials have raised $13.4 million toward the $17
million campaign goal.
“United Community Bank is an organization
dedicated to supporting the local community,” Isherwood said.
“This generous gift to Reinhardt’s Capital Campaign is proof of
its commitment. We are very appreciative of this contribution,
and it will be used to benefit present and future Reinhardt
students, alumni, faculty and staff.”
Holcomb, a Cherokee native who has spent
most of his 33-year banking career within the county, was also
enthusiastic about the gift. “As a community bank, we are
always pleased to have the opportunity to give back to our
county and worthwhile organizations,” he stated. “We are
especially pleased to be able to make a significant contribution
to Reinhardt College for its Capital Campaign fund.
“Reinhardt College has been a benchmark for
education in Cherokee County since its founding over 120 years
ago,” Holcomb said. “Now as a private, four-year college, it
continues to be an outstanding source of excellent education.
Reinhardt not only educates its students academically, but also
demonstrates the importance of character and ethics to its
students as they prepare for their future. We are so pleased
that Dr. Tom Isherwood and his faculty and staff have dedicated
themselves to giving the very best education and opportunities
for the future to the students at Reinhardt College.”
