Angela Pharr Honored with the
Reinhardt Bridge Award
Angela Pharr
(left), who has served Reinhardt College for almost a decade,
recently received the 2008 Reinhardt Bridge Award at a faculty
senate meeting on April 15, 2008. The award is given on a yearly
basis to a staff member in recognition and appreciation of
outstanding service and commitment to the faculty and students
of the College.
Pharr came to
Reinhardt in November 1998 and currently serves as executive
administrative assistant to vice president for academic affairs
and dean of the College. She resides in Canton, Ga.
“We Share the Same Goal”
“I am honored to be recognized by the College faculty,” said Pharr.
“I feel blessed to be a part of their team as we share the same
goal—encouraging our students to become their best.
“The Reinhardt
community—faculty, staff and students—is such a supportive
group, and to be given this award is a true expression of that
support and an encouragement for me to continue to strive for
the best in all that I do.”
Building Bridges
The award, established in 2005 as a formal way for faculty to
express appreciation to a staff member, is presented by the
Reinhardt Faculty Senate and was the idea of Dr. Theresa L. Ast,
associate professor of history. Faculty nominate staff members
and then select the recipient for the honor. The award is given
to a staff member who deserves appreciation for his or her
positive, caring attitude; someone who is known to go the second
mile in assisting others and completing their tasks; someone who
works hard to build “bridges” between students, faculty, staff,
and the local community and, as a result, strengthens the
Reinhardt College community.
Professional Manner and Cheerful
Attitude
“Angela
can usually be found juggling four different projects—sometimes
with three people in her office and one on the telephone,”
explained Dr. Margaret M. Morlier, associate professor of
English and chair of the Reinhardt Faculty Senate. “She handles
a diversity of faculty problems—from sensitive contracts to
locked classrooms—with professionalism and cheerfulness.
“We are lucky to
have someone with Angela's competence and temperament in such a
key position on campus.”
