Want to see a vice president of Reinhardt
play the piano to “Hey, Jude?” A history professor singing
“Rocky Top?” Or a faculty and staff musical performance of
“California Dreamin’?” Then come out for a good ole’ time at
Reinhardt College’s Faculty and Staff Hootenanny on Feb. 26,
2008, at 7 p.m. in the Falany Performing Arts Center on the
College campus in Waleska, Ga.
“The Hootenanny is a sing-along featuring songs of various
types,” explains Dr. Wayne Glowka, Reinhardt’s dean of arts and
humanities and Hootenanny coordinator. “It is fun for people.
They laugh. They have a great time. Most people are surprised at
how many old songs they know how to sing.”
Glowka says that the audience should expect to hear folksong
standards, do-whop songs from the ’50s, rock songs from the ’60s
and ’70s, and many impromptu jokes during and between songs. The
audience will be encouraged to sing along, as words for the
songs’ choruses will be provided in the program.
