Safe Spring Break Day Promoted Health and Safety Awareness to Reinhardt College Students

Reinhardt students are “playing it safe” while getting prepared for the College’s upcoming spring break holiday the week of March 3-7. On Tuesday, February 26, students attended the College’s first Safe Spring Break Day hosted by Reinhardt’s Office of Student Activities, Student Activities Council, and Office of Counseling and Career Services in the Glasshouse of The Hasty Student Life Center on the Waleska campus.

"Safe Spring Break Day is a fun and interesting way for students to gather more information about how to keep safe during Spring Break,” explained Becky Doebler, coordinator of student activities. “The event included information on topics ranging

from alcohol poisoning, predatory drugs and seatbelt safety to sexual health responsibility and fun alternatives for a safe Spring Break."

Local businesses provided students with free samples and information about health and safety. The Cherokee Eye Group passed out eye care supplies and brochures and raffled off a pair of designer sunglasses. Attendees learned health and wellness tips from the Cherokee Health Department and from Physician's Immediate Med of Canton. Northside Pharmacy and Medical Supply of Waleska offered prescription and drug information and raffled off a safe Spring Break gift basket. Students also enjoyed smoothies from The Gathering Place in Waleska and a “create your own spin-art frisbee” station provided by Interactive Attractions of Atlanta.

After learning about Spring Break safety, attendees could sign the Safe Spring Break Pledge. The pledge encouraged students to abstain from drinking and driving or riding with someone who has been drinking.
