Family and friends of the late Dr. Jerry Zeller recently joined Reinhardt community members in planting a tree next to the College’s Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center in memory of Zeller, who passed away on July 4, 2008.

Remebering His Dedication
“In memory of our good friend and colleague Dr. Jerry Zeller, we dedicate this beautiful American Elm tree,” said Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood, Reinhardt’s president, during the memorial tree planting ceremony. “It will be a reminder of Zeller’s dedication and commitment to the students of Reinhardt College.”

Close friends of Zeller expressed their sentiments by telling funny anecdotes about Zeller and sharing his original written works. Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood presented Mrs. Zeller with a plaque that included the names of all those who contributed to the 2007-08 Reinhardt Ministerial Honoree Scholarship honoring Dr. Zeller.

Easy to Laugh. Easy to Love.
“Zeller served Reinhardt College as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, and as a faculty member. More than his titles, he served us as friend and mentor with a combination of patience and energy. He was easy to laugh and easy to love. There was a wonderful sense of wisdom and mischief in his spirit. He will be dearly missed."
