WALESKA, Ga. – Reinhardt College volleyball player Sami Lane, a 5-foot-8 freshman outside hitter from Kennesaw, Ga., has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her play from Nov. 3-9. It marks the first time during her young career that she has received the honor.
In three conference matches last week, Lane had 50 kills and 56 digs as Reinhardt went 2-1 with the only loss coming at SSAC regular-season champion Berry College in five sets. In a win over Brewton-Parker College last Friday, she collected a match-high 22 kills.
Lane, an SSAC Freshman-of-the-Year candidate, played in all 124 sets for the Lady Eagles during the regular season, leading the team in kills (383), total attacks (1359) and service aces (31). She currently leads the conference with 3.1 kills per game.
Team Standings Reinhardt is 19-12 overall and finished 9-7 in the conference standings, tying for third place with two other teams. The fourth-seeded Lady Eagles will take on No. 5-seed Southern Wesleyan University in the SSAC Tournament on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Berry is hosting the double-elimination tournament at the Steven J. Cage Center in Mount Berry, Ga.
