Seasoned Television Writer and Producer Larry Blase Presents at Reinhardt's Communication Colloquium on March 12, 2009

The Communication Department at Reinhardt College welcomes Larry Blase, a former CNN news writer and now freelance television producer/writer, on Thursday, March 12, at 2:45 p.m. in the Gordy Community Room on Reinhardt's campus in Waleska, Ga. Blase will share his experiences as a media writer as he talks about "Writing for the Real World." 

"Blase is eager to share his experiences and to serve as a mentor to young adults entering the writing and communication field," said Dr. Pamela Wilson, Reinhardt associate professor of communication.

Blase Background
A graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in journalism and communications, Blase began his rich and varied career in broadcasting as a news writer for CNN Headline News and spent most of two decades writing and/or producing daily news programs for CNN, including live coverage of the Persian Gulf War, and WAGA-TV, rising to the rank of executive producer. 

For the past decade, Blase has been freelancing as a writer, producer and consultant for a variety of programs, most notably the reality program and pop culture phenomenon "Trading Spaces"-a home renovation show.

Blase has been nominated for ten Emmy Awards, and he has received two New York Festivals Film and Video Awards and a National Music Journalism Award.
