Want to see a vice president of Reinhardt playing the piano to "We are the Champions?" An admissions counselor belting out the high notes to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight?" Or a faculty and staff musical performance of "Rocky Top?" Then come out for a good ole' time at Reinhardt College's third annual Faculty and Staff Hootenanny on Monday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the Falany Performing Arts Center on the College's campus in Waleska, Ga.
"The Hootenanny is a sing-along featuring songs of various types," explains Dr. Wayne Glowka, Reinhardt's dean of arts and humanities and Hootenanny coordinator. "It is fun for people. They laugh. They have a great time. Most people are surprised at how many old songs they know how to sing."
Glowka says that the audience should expect to hear a variety of musical genres, including folksong standards, do-whop, rock, bluegrass, Broadway and gospel, along with many impromptu jokes, parodies and skits during and between songs. The audience will be encouraged to sing along, as words for the songs' choruses will be provided in the program.
"Join us at the Hootenanny for fun, laughter and just doggone good music!" says Glowka.
The event is free for the public, and tickets are not required for admission. For more information, contact Glowka at 770-720-5628 or AWG@reinhardt.edu.
