Reinhardt College softball player Kelsey Floyd has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for her play from March 29-April 4. It marks the first time Floyd has earned the weekly conference honor.
Floyd, a 5-foot-10 sophomore pitcher/first baseman from Newnan, Ga., pitched a perfect game against the Martin Methodist College RedHawks, ranked 21st nationally in the NAIA, in her only appearance last week. She recorded 16 groundouts and three strikeouts while retiring all 21 batters she faced in Reinhardt's 1-0 win last Friday. Only two balls were hit out of the infield against her, and none after the second inning. Floyd also batted .231 with a .462 slugging percentage, a solo home run and a stolen base in four games last week.
On the season, Floyd has a 5-2 record and a 3.13 ERA in nine appearances. In 44 2/3 innings of work, she has struck out 33 and walked just six. At the plate, Floyd is hitting .265 with a team-high five home runs and 23 RBIs in 35 contests.
The Lady Eagles are having their best season ever at 27-8 overall, including 7-1 in the AAC. Reinhardt, which received six votes in the latest NAIA poll to rank No. 39 nationally, is at Tennessee Wesleyan College on Wednesday for a conference doubleheader. Return to Previous Page
