Reinhardt College baseball player Matt Dalton has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his play from April 5-11. It marks the first time Dalton has earned the weekly conference honor.
Dalton, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior right-hander from Suwanee, Ga., pitched a complete-game shutout in his only appearance last week. In Reinhardt's 10-0 AAC win on Saturday over the Tennessee Wesleyan College Bulldogs, ranked tied for 24th nationally in the NAIA, he allowed just four singles while striking out two and walking one in six innings of work.
On the season, Dalton has a 4-3 record and a 2.11 ERA in nine appearances, all starts. Over 47 innings, he has allowed 11 earned runs and 37 hits while striking out 51 and walking 13. Dalton has recorded five complete games with opponents batting only .211 against him. He ranks among the conference leaders in several statistical categories.
The Eagles are 16-18 overall and 7-10 in the AAC. Reinhardt hosts Truett-McConnell College on Tuesday in a non-conference contest.
