B.J. Caviness Presented with Captain A.M. Reinhardt Award During the University’s Recent Fall Family & Alumni Weekend Festivities

Captain Reinhardt Award winner B.J. CavinessB.J. Caviness, grounds supervisor, was presented with the Captain A.M. Reinhardt Award at the conclusion of Reinhardt’s Student Talent Show, which was a part of the University’s Fall Family & Alumni Weekend Festivities October 8-9, 2010.

Award Background

Each fall semester, Reinhardt’s Student Government Association (SGA) honors a member of the Reinhardt Community with the presentation of the Captain A.M. Reinhardt Award. This award is presented to one faculty or staff member for his or her sincere dedication to the mission, purpose and life of Reinhardt College.

Caviness (left), a member of the grounds crew for more than 22 years, was humbled to receive the award. “I was very surprised and honored to receive this award,” he said. “The fact that it was chosen by the students really warms my heart to know that they appreciate what we do at Reinhardt to keep their surroundings looking beautiful and serene.”

Giving 110 Percent

“He [Caviness] is an individual that always gives 110 percent to the task at hand,” said Zaine Hedge (above, right), a senior from Villa Rica, Ga. and president of SGA. “He is amiable, courteous and a huge asset not only to the work on our grounds, but to the Reinhardt community. The mere fact that his name was the first nominated and with sincere vigor from the students is a testament to his integrity and character as a member of our family."

Caviness and his wife, Carol, live in Waleska, Ga.
