University Announces More than $16,000 Raised from Inaugural Athletics Golf Tournament; Congratulates Winners of Tourney
With more than 200 scholarship student-athletes, 15 intercollegiate teams and cheerleading, and a new athletic conference, Reinhardt intercollegiate athletics has more offerings and demands than ever. For that reason, University planners decided to add a fall golf tournament to support athletics.
"Intercollegiate athletics play a vital role in life at Reinhardt,” said Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood, president. “Our first event was a success, and we look forward to the tournament growing every year. It’s a great way for those who love athletics to get involved and make a real difference!”
More Than $16,000 Raised
The inaugural Reinhardt University Athletics Golf Tournament, played at Callahan’s Golf Links in Waleska, Ga. on October 25, 2010, was a huge success in it’s first year of play. The initial amount raised in the tournament was $16,000. All funds will go to support Reinhardt’s sports programs and student-athletes.
White's Leadership a Vital Role
Reinhardt’s Director of Fundraising and Church Relations Barbara Manous commended tournament chair C. Kenneth White ’61 for his leadership. “The leadership of Mr. White was a huge part of why this tournament was so successful. His enthusiasm for his alma mater is evident in all he does.”
Two teams were awarded top honors. The overall winner of the tournament, taking First Low Gross, was the team of Casey Hild (from left), Ken Dixon, Reinhardt head coach for men’s and women’s golf, and Drew Hayes. While the team of Jonathan Rivers (pictured at right, from left), Keith Winter, Robby Adams and Michael Bridgewater, took second place for First Low Net.
