Reinhardt University softball player Haley Williams was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her play from April 4-10. It marks the first time Williams has earned the weekly conference honor.
Williams, a 5-foot-9 junior first baseman/second baseman from Watkinsville, Ga., hit .600 (9-for-15) with two home runs, a triple, a double, seven RBIs, six runs scored and a stolen base as Reinhardt went 4-0, outscoring its opponents 33-9, in four Appalachian Athletic Conference games last week. She collected 18 total bases for a 1.200 slugging percentage. Defensively at first base, Williams did not commit an error in 22 chances and was a part of two double plays.
On the season, Williams has started all 38 games for the Lady Eagles and tops the squad in sacrifice hits (17). She is tied for the team lead in runs scored (32) while batting .328 with four home runs, two triples, six doubles, 23 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
Within the AAC, Williams ranks in the top 10 in several offensive statistical categories. She is tied for first in runs scored, second in at-bats (119), tied for fourth in total bases (61), tied for fifth in triples, tied for sixth in home runs and tied for sixth in RBIs.
Reinhardt is ranked No. 25 nationally in the NAIA and has a 30-8 overall record, including 8-0 in the conference. The Lady Eagles, who are on a season-best eight-game winning streak, host an AAC doubleheader with the Milligan College Lady Buffaloes on Tuesday. The first game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Ken White Softball Field.
