Six Women's Lacrosse Players Receive Postseason Honors from NWLL
Six members of Reinhardt University’s 2011 women’s lacrosse team were recently honored with postseason awards from the National Women’s Lacrosse League. Reinhardt had one First Team All-NWLL selection, one second team all-league pick and four players named to the honorable mention list.
Emily Collins, a 5-foot-5 freshman midfielder from Snellville, Ga., was the Lady Eagles’ lone player to earn First Team All-NWLL accolades. Collins started all 11 games for Reinhardt, leading the squad in goals (49), assists (nine), points (58), shots (88), ground balls (77) and draw controls (23). Within the league, she ranked fifth in goals, sixth in shots and seventh in points.
Reinhardt’s only player to garner Second Team All-NWLL recognition was 5-foot-2 freshman attackman Ashley Gongas out of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. Gongas was also in the starting lineup for all 11 contests, scoring 17 goals with seven assists for 24 points. She took 34 shots and collected 38 ground balls and 13 draw controls.
Earning spots on the league’s honorable mention list were 5-foot-2 freshman Ashley Davis from Woodstock, Ga.; 5-foot-8 senior Jaybriel Guyton out of Acworth, Ga.; 5-foot-4 freshman Ciara Hilburn from Woodstock; and 5-foot-7 freshman Anna Solomon out of Decatur, Ga.
The Lady Eagles finished their first season of competition in 2011 with a 4-7 overall record, including 1-4 in the NWLL.
