Nordeen Named AAC Player of Week for Men's Basketball
Reinhardt University men's basketball player Kevin Nordeen was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his play from Dec. 13-19, 2010. It marks the first time Nordeen has earned the weekly conference honor.
In his first action of the season, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Nordeen, a senior guard and business major from Kennesaw, Ga., averaged 24.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocked shots and 1.0 steals as Reinhardt went 1-1 last week in a pair of non-conference games at the Young Harris (Ga.) College Christmas Tournament. He shot 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the field, including 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from three-point range, and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from the free throw line. Nordeen came off the bench to lead the Eagles with 17 points in a 94-78 loss to undefeated Emmanuel (Ga.) College, which is ranked No. 24 nationally in NAIA Division I. He followed that up with a career-high 31 points in an 89-77 win over Atlanta Christian College.
Reinhardt is 4-9 overall and has not yet begun conference play. The Eagles are at NCAA Division I University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for an exhibition game on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at noon. Reinhardt returns to regular season action when traveling to face Bluefield College in its AAC opener on Jan. 5. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Bluefield, Va.
