Reinhardt recently welcomed a new food service provider, Sodexo, to its campus in Waleska, Ga., and with that came a new team of head staff. Ed Daugherty, Jr. (left) has been appointed as general manager, and Matt Ahlberg was selected to serve as executive chef.
“Ed has been with Sodexo since 2002, and has more than 24 years of experience in the food service industry,” announced Bob McKinnon, vice president of finance and administration. “He is extremely knowledgeable of and experienced in college and university food service management, and is an experienced chef in his own right.
“Matt comes to us from Emory, and as we’ve only heard good things about him, we look forward to seeing what he can 'cook' up for us here at Reinhardt,” McKinnon continued. “We are glad to have them both!”
Daugherty comes to Reinhardt from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois where he served for more than three years as general manager. Prior to that, he was general manager from September 2004-January 2007 at the Milwaukee Public Museum in Wisconsin and general manager from August 2002- September 2004 at GE Healthcare.
Ahlberg has more than 12 years of professional cooking and kitchen management experience. He formally served for Sodexo at Oxford College of Emory as the sous-chef from 2009 until his appointment with Reinhardt. He has also worked at several fine dining establishments throughout the state including Belly General Store, where he worked as executive chef; Vinocity Wine Bar in Atlanta, Ga., where he served as an executive chef/sous chef; and the French Quarter II in Alpharetta, Ga., where he worked as a kitchen manager.
