Faculty and staff took center stage on Tuesday, August 16, at Reinhardt University’s annual Employee Awards & Recognition Breakfast. The event honored employees with notable years of service, introduced all the new employees and provided everyone with a catered breakfast and a special gift.
Keeping Reinhardt’s campus squeaky-clean for more than three decades, Clara Chambers, housekeeper and a resident of Canton, Ga., was recognized for her 35 years of service with a special plaque.
Dr. Eddie Robertson, a resident of Waleska and professor of biology, was honored for his 25 years with the University, and Mike Froman, maintenance technician and a resident of Waleska, Ga., was recognized for 20 years.
Recognized for their 15 years of service were: Jean Champion, a resident of Ball Ground, Ga., and support services coordinator; Larry Eubanks, a resident of Jasper, Ga., and maintenance technician; Donna Hunt, a resident of Woodstock, Ga., and coordinator of North Fulton Center operations; Barbara Manous, a resident of Canton, Ga., and director of fund raising and church relations; Betty Miller, a resident of Cartersville, Ga., and assistant professor of education; Stephanie Olsen, a resident of Waleska, Ga., and library assistant; and Dr. Richard Summers, a resident of White, Ga., and professor of mathematics.
All celebrating 10 years of service at Reinhardt were: Brandi Berger, a resident of Waleska, Ga., and records and registration coordinator; Dr. Robert Epling, a resident of Cartersville, Ga., and associate professor of physical education; Daniel Farnham, a resident of Canton, Ga., and head coach - men's soccer; Andrew Kaplan, a resident of Atlanta, Ga., and head coach - women's soccer; Dr. Walter May, a resident of Kennesaw, Ga., and assistant dean of students and director of student activities; and Dr. John Yelvington, a resident of Alpharetta, Ga., and assistant professor of economics.
Honored for their five years of service were, from Ball Ground, Ga.: Cheryl Norris, director of institutional research and effectiveness; from Canton, Ga.: Tina Boosel, instructor of business; Chris Darnell, housekeeper; Jym Davis, assistant professor of art; Maritza Pivaral, housekeeper; Jennifer Sackman, head coach - men's and women's tennis; Fabia Smith, music accompanist; Karen Smithwick, administrative assistant for fund raising and church relations; Derek Struchtemeyer, director of counseling services; Lauren Thomas, media relations coordinator; from Jasper, Ga.: David Griffin, public safety officer; from Rome, Ga.: Dr. James Curry, Jr., dean of the Price School of Education; and from Waleska, Ga.: MaryBeth Bearden, administrative assistant for the registrar; and Elizabeth Smith, assistant professor of mathematics.
New employees were also introduced during the breakfast. Since August 2010, Reinhardt has hired more than 28 new faculty and staff, including six who are alumni of the University.
