John Snow has joined the Reinhardt University athletic department as its new head men’s lacrosse coach. He is responsible for directing all aspects of Reinhardt’s intercollegiate men’s lacrosse program, which is currently in its third year and competes as a member of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association and Southeastern Lacrosse Conference.
“We are so excited to have Coach Snow on board as our head men’s lacrosse coach,” Reinhardt athletic director Bill Popp said. “The energy he has brought is absolutely contagious and the team has responded in a very positive way. We expect to have our largest team to date and look forward to when we get to see the players in action in the spring.”
Growing up in upstate New York, Snow began playing lacrosse at the age of 8. He was a standout player and four-year letterman at Auburn (N.Y.) High School before moving on and earning four letters as an attackman at NCAA Division I Cornell University of the Ivy League. As a freshman, he played in the 1988 national championship game as Cornell lost 13-8 to Syracuse University. In his final season of 1991, he received All-Ivy League recognition while leading the Big Red in scoring (44 points) and assists (25). Snow later played for a professional team in Melbourne, Australia and was an assistant coach for the 19-and-under Team Australia squad at the World Games. In 1996, he was a member of Team USA when lacrosse was a trial sport at the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. Last season, Snow served as an assistant coach for the boys team at Johns Creek (Ga.) High School. Over the years, he has coached and been an instructor at several lacrosse camps.
Snow, a licensed real estate agent in Georgia, has worked in business for many years. Since 2005, he has been the president and owner of Liberty Financial Mortgage Group in Alpharetta, Ga. The mortgage brokerage firm operates in 25 states across the country.
“I have been in the business world for 20-something years and I’ve always wanted to get back into the game of lacrosse and be around athletics,” Snow said. “So, last year I started coaching at Johns Creek High School just to get back into it, but I really wanted to get into college. I’m very excited about being here at Reinhardt.”
Originally from Auburn, N.Y., Snow earned his Bachelor of Science degree in general studies/business communications from Cornell in 1992. He currently resides in Cumming, Ga., and is the father of an 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter who both play lacrosse.
