Recyclemania hits Reinhardt University!
Entering into week three of an 8-week endeavor, RU Green is working to reduce waste and encourage recycling efforts on Reinhardt University’s campus in Waleska, Ga. Recyclemania kicked off Sunday, Feb. 3, and will continue through Saturday, March 29. Reinhardt is one of more than 600 Colleges competing in the contest from across the country.
Each week Zach White, horticulturist, and RU Green Program Assistants Jasmine Simmons, a junior from Dallas, Ga., and Brent Blackwell, a freshman from Canton, Ga., will measure how much trash is collected in campus dumpsters versus how much is recycled. Also, Reinhardt's dining services manager Ed Daugherty (Sodexo) and the Gordy Center staff will measure how much waste is thrown away every day during lunch and dinner. The numbers will be reported very soon, so look for more details on www.reinhardt.edu and the RU Green and Reinhardt Student Activities Facebook pages.
"We hope this contest can help us reduce our waste on campus and grow our recycling efforts,"; said White. "We plan to have 2 months of wonderful activities, and we need everyone's help and support!"
