Meeting the needs of the
adult learner and the demands of a changing marketplace
underscore the decision for Reinhardt College to emphasize
degree-completion programs and graduate studies at the
Alpharetta North Fulton Center and in the evening programming at
the Waleska Campus beginning in August 2008.
“Career opportunities and
rewards for our students underline the importance of moving in
this new direction, and we are excited by the favorable
circumstances that allow us to offer these special degree
programs to our students,” said Peg O’Connor, associate
vice–president for academic affairs.
Based on research, market
trends, and an evaluation of adult education needs, the
following recommendations were made:
-
Beginning in fall 2008, the adult learner program will
concentrate on students who have earned 60 credits and seek
degree-completion programs that include the existing
Advantage Organizational Leadership, Public Safety
Leadership and the new Professional Communication Leadership
program that will be introduced in August 2008. The
advantage programs are designed for the corporate and public
safety fields.
- The
current business administration degree with options in
management and marketing will be offered to the adult
learner who has completed a minimum of 30 credits in general
education.
- An
evening program for students who want to finish a degree in
elementary education called WAIT (Working Adults in
Education) opened on the Waleska campus in January 2008 and
will be available in Alpharetta in 2009.
- In
addition to the current Master of Business Administration,
MBA, Reinhardt is preparing a Master of Education, M.Ed.,
and a Master of Arts in Teaching, MAT. Plans are to launch
these new graduate programs in late 2009.
-
Beginning in spring 2009, the Bachelor of Arts in Business
Studies will be introduced under the Advantage Program in an
accelerated format.
By better responding to
student needs and marketplace trends, Reinhardt College will
offer the adult learner the opportunity to earn degrees in an
accelerated program in a variety of locations (The North Fulton
Center, Waleska and other selected sites). |
