Questions (FAQ) about the WAIT Program

What is
WAIT?
WAIT stands for Working
Adults
Into Teaching. This new degree completion program is
designed for working adults who seek to earn a degree in Early
Childhood Education.

Who is
eligible for admission to WAIT?
To
be eligible for admission for the WAIT program, you must
meet all of the regular admission requirements
of Reinhardt College. You must also:
- be 21 years of age or
older;
- have been employed
full-time for at least two years;
- have an associate degree
in Education or equivalent from an
approved technical college or two-year college.

When are
the classes offered?
Class times are Tuesdays
and Thursdays, 6-10:30 p.m. Specific times based on student input
will be considered throughout the duration of the program.

How many
classes will I take each semester?
Semesters are 16 weeks; for the
WAIT program, they
are divided into two eight-week sessions. You will take two
classes each eight weeks. (Ex: One class on Tuesday and another
on Thursday.)

Will I be a
full-time college student?
Yes, you will be taking at least
12 credit hours each semester, which is considered full-time.

How long
will it take me to graduate?
Generally, the program takes nine semesters to
complete, but if the student transfers more college credits, the
time to complete the program will be reduced.

When will I
student teach and how does that work?
With the first cohort group, student teaching
is the last
semester which is Fall Semester, 2010. In student teaching you
will be placed in a school with a specific teacher for 15 weeks.
You must quit your job while student teaching. If this might
cause a financial challenge, start planning now.

How will
earlier field experiences be arranged?
These will be worked out with each
student on an individual basis.

Is this a
cohort program, and what does that mean to me?
Yes, this is a cohort program. You
will move with the same group of people through the entire
program.

Where will
the classes be?
All classes will meet on
Reinhardt’s main campus in Waleska.

How will I
know which of my classes will transfer?
You will meet with an advisor who
will evaluate your transcript pending articulation agreements
with individual colleges.

How much
will it cost?
Reinhardt is offering a reduced
rate of tuition for the WAIT Program.
The exact amount cost to you must be determined on an individual basis depending
on financial aid available. Possible financial aid sources may
include the Georgia Tuition Equalization Program, the
HOPE Scholarship, and Pell Grants.
