Quick Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the WAIT Program

  1. What is WAIT?

WAIT stands for Working Adults Into Teaching. This new degree completion program is designed for working adults who seek to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education.

  1. Who is eligible for admission to WAIT?

To be eligible for admission for the WAIT program, you must meet all of the regular admission requirements of Reinhardt College. You must also:

  • be 21 years of age or older;
  • have been employed full-time for at least two years;
  • have an associate degree in Education or equivalent from an approved technical college or two-year college.
  1. When are the classes offered?

Class times are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-10:30 p.m. Specific times based on student input will be considered throughout the duration of the program.

  1. How many classes will I take each semester?

Semesters are 16 weeks; for the WAIT program, they are divided into two eight-week sessions. You will take two classes each eight weeks. (Ex: One class on Tuesday and another on Thursday.)

  1. Will I be a full-time college student?

Yes, you will be taking at least 12 credit hours each semester, which is considered full-time.

  1. How long will it take me to graduate?

Generally, the program takes nine semesters to complete, but if the student transfers more college credits, the time to complete the program will be reduced.

  1. When will I student teach and how does that work?

With the first cohort group, student teaching is the last semester which is Fall Semester, 2010. In student teaching you will be placed in a school with a specific teacher for 15 weeks. You must quit your job while student teaching. If this might cause a financial challenge, start planning now.

  1. How will earlier field experiences be arranged?

These will be worked out with each student on an individual basis.

  1. Is this a cohort program, and what does that mean to me?

Yes, this is a cohort program. You will move with the same group of people through the entire program.

  1. Where will the classes be?

All classes will meet on Reinhardt’s main campus in Waleska.

  1. How will I know which of my classes will transfer?

You will meet with an advisor who will evaluate your transcript pending articulation agreements with individual colleges.

  1. How much will it cost?

Reinhardt is offering a reduced rate of tuition for the WAIT Program. The exact amount cost to you must be determined on an individual basis depending on financial aid available. Possible financial aid sources may include the Georgia Tuition Equalization Program, the HOPE Scholarship, and Pell Grants.

  1. Who do I contact for up-to-date information on the WAIT program?

You may make an appointment with Mrs. Lindsey to discuss the details of  the WAIT Program, the schedule of classes, and your individual questions.
