Liberal Studies
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Liberal Studies is designed for students who love all the humanities and want to be able to study English, history, religion, sociology, art history, communication arts, and political science.
Flexible and challenging.
Students select five courses to fulfill one primary discipline (English, history, or religion) and three courses in each of two secondary areas (English, history, religion, sociology, art history, communication arts, and political science).
Interdisciplinary
Students in the major also take interdisciplinary classes (LST 301)--with general themes like nature and culture, conformity and rebellion, poverty and wealth, or hope and despair--to foster appreciation for other cultures and a passionate involvement in society.
Thesis or Internship
The program also includes an optional senior thesis or internship to allow the student to gain practical work experience. Our students have worked as interns in museums, publishing houses, accounting firms, and even for the Atlanta Braves!
Students majoring in other disciplines may also take a minor in Liberal Studies.
