CHARITY NEESE AWARDED STEINWAY SCHOLARSHIP
Charity Neese, a sophomore from Jasper, is one of five students in the state of Georgia who received a $1,000 Steinway Scholarship. Charity was nominated by Susan Naylor, her piano teacher at Reinhardt, and selected for the award by the Steinway Society of Atlanta. She will perform at the award program on September 21, 2008 at the Carlos Museum at Emory University in Decatur, Georgia.
Charity is majoring in music performance at Reinhardt. Following graduation, she hopes to attend graduate school and to pursue a career as an accompanist. She is Secretary of the Reinhardt chapter of CMTNA (Collegiate Music Teachers' National Association) and a member of the Reinhardt College Choir.
Charity grew up in a musical family. She and other family members sing and play together at church. She is also church pianist at Bethel Baptist Church in Woodstock, Georgia.
