Degree Programs in the School of Performing Arts

The School of Performing Arts offers five undergraduate and one graduate degree programs:

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theatre

The Theatre Studies B.A. focuses on all aspects of theatre production—acting, directing, technical design, and literary analysis—and includes a strong emphasis on the history of performance art.

Students will be prepared for careers requiring people with the ability to write and speak, to think creatively and independently, to understand the great complexities of the human condition, and to collaborate with others on a group project.

Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Performance

This degree prepares students for careers in concert or opera performance. While classical training is emphasized, the student will be well prepared to perform in a variety of styles and genres.

Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Sacred Music

This degree prepares students to direct church music programs including youth, adult, and handbell choirs and praise groups.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre (B.F.A.)

This degree is designed to prepare students for careers in musical theatre performance or to pursue graduate studies in a theatre related field.

Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.)

The Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) degree prepares students to join the ranks of professional educators in the elementary and secondary schools with K-12 certification by the State of Georgia. In addition to Elementary Music Methods and Secondary Music Methods courses, Reinhardt students are required to take courses in String, Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, and Vocal Methods so that they are prepared to teach in both vocal and instrumental programs. Students are encouraged to participate in both choral and instrumental ensembles during their studies at Reinhardt University.

Music Minor

Students may select the music minor to prepare for a life of continued music participation.

Master of Music (M.M.)

Students in the Master of Music program may choose from the following options:

  • Conducting: This degree prepares students to enter the field of professional music as a conductor or to continue their graduate training for a career in higher education.
  • Piano Pedagogy: This degree prepares students to continue their graduate studies for a career in higher education and offers piano teachers an opportunity to receive further training in their specialty.
  • Education: This degree offers a second level of certification for public school teachers.
