Biology and Beta Beta Beta Christmas Dinner

November 30, 2012 at 5pm at Dr. Robertson's House

New Addition to the Dobbs Science Building

Summer 2012

Construction on the 12,000 square foot addition to the Dobbs Science Building has begun with plans calling for its completion by August 2013. The new addition will include laboratories, classrooms, research facilities and instructional technology. In addition, the Dobbs Science Building will be renovated.

Beta Beta Beta Speaker Hassan Rana

November 16, 2012 at 1pm in Dobbs 105

Hassan Rana spoke on his summer internship at the University of Michigan Summer Undergraduate Research in Physiology (SURP). The title of his presentation was "The Mineralo Corticoid Receptor (MR) antogonist suppresses endoplasmic reticulum stress levels in HepG2 cells."

Graduation Lunch for Biology Majors

All seniors and their families were encouraged to eat lunch after graduation at the Robertsons'.

Beta Beta Beta Final Meeting, All Biology Majors Invited

April 19, 2012 4:30pm-6pm at Dr. Robertson's House

We meet on the afternoon of the first day of finals (April 19 - 4:30-6:00) to say good bye to our seniors and to initiate next year's officers. We will be doing wings again and playing football. Make it a point to join us.

Bio Blitz

Friday, April 13 - Saturday, April 14

Bio Blitz is an event where people gather to collect and identify as many different living things as possible.

Friday night Dr. Mark Yates from LaGrange college will set up nets to capture bats and also some listening devices to record their echolocation calls. This is from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. and we will meet outside of Dobbs.

Saturday morning we will have 3 groups of birders combing the campus for songbirds from 8 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. led by folks including our very own Bruce Bynum.

At 1:00 p.m. a group from the North American Native Fishes Association (NANFA) will take groups out to seine net fishes on campus.

At 4:00 p.m. in the upstairs of the library Mr. Bryan Hudson will put on a very exciting snake show. He will bring a variety of venomous and non-venomous snake species and inform us about these awesome animals.

Convocation of Artists and Scholars

Seven Biology Students presented their independent research at the Science presentations of the Convocation of Artists and Scholars on Tuesday, April 10th at 2 p.m.

73rd Annual Meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists

April 4 - 7, 2012

Eight students and three faculty members attended the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists. The two Reinhard Biology students who presented at the meeting were Ryan Wauford on "Are Combined Food Dyes Mutagenic?" and Hassan Rana on "Preliminary Work towards Establishing a List of Land Snails for Georgia."

Dr. Felix in Biology Receives Two Teaching Awards for Academic Semester 2011/2012

Dr. Felix received the United Methodist Exemplary Teaching Award and the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award during the April 3rd Faculty Senate Meeting.

Beta Beta Beta members and Biology majors went on a Blue Ridge Mountain Scenic Railway Trip on September 12, 2011 to view the Fall foliage of Georgia.
