The International Culture Fest's purpose is to showcase our diversity as a group. Although we might be different in terms of the color of our skin, place or country of our birth, one thing brings us together, which is the fact that we are all human beings. In most African cultures, the essence of “common unity” is celebrated, and that is why we as Africans live in communities. The essence of common unity states that there are more things that bring us together as human beings than that separate us. Some of those things that are common to us all are conveyed in the word “culture.” And culture may be defined as a way of life. In essence, our culture is reflected in the followings areas of our lives:
Along with the African Descendants Student Association, we have decided to highlight one of the basics of our culture, which is “common unity” by inviting other cultures, countries, and people to join us as we celebrate our diversity, as well as our unity through the International Culture Fest.
