 In honor of our beloved Dr. Rowland Burgess, Reinhardt's president from 1944-1973, we are asking the "Burgess Era" alumni to participate in a special one-time effort to increase the scholarships given in his name. Pledges may be paid over a three-year-period. Our goal is to raise $200,000 to add to the existing Burgess Scholarship Fund. A committee of Burgess Era alumni has already pledged toward this effort. We now look to you, our fellow classmates, to help us meet the goal and honor Dr. Burgess in perpetuity. Dr. J.R. Burgess Jr. served as Reinhardt's president for 29 years. In addition to his devotion to the College and its students, many people fondly remember his love of horticulture, poetry and writing.
